Oregon Medical Billing and Coding Schools
Finding good paying jobs that require little training or experience seems to be getting more difficult by the day. However, if you look in the right fields, there are still jobs like this to be had. One such field that is in desperate need for employees is the medical field. The population is aging, and more medical assistance is needed to help run the administrative aspects of a doctor’s office or hospital.
In Oregon, you would only need a year or two of training before you would be able to get your first job in medical billing and coding. What you would be doing is mostly filing paperwork for the patients that are seen at the doctor’s office or hospital under which you are employed. You would be keeping track of billing records and coding medical information about the patients. The doctors themselves do not have enough hours in the day to handle all of this work, so they need qualified medical assistants to do it for them.
You will never be doing any actual medical procedures, so you won’t need the overwhelming training that other medical professionals (i.e. doctors, nurses) need. All you are going to need are some good people skills and some good organizational skills as well.
Medical Biller and Coder Salary Outlook
When people come into the doctor’s office, they want to be greeted kindly by the medical assistant. This little act of kindness may make them feel more at ease. This would actually be part of your job as a medical assistant. That along with keeping the files organized will earn you a nice salary each year. The pay rate does differ from state to state, however states like Oregon can usually expect between $24,000 and $53,000 per year.
